SILAS!! He’s reading me books. Full kids books. Not early reader books but book books. This kid is just unreal.
I noticed that he could do more than just read words that I’ve taught him because the other day we were going through this new puzzle where you match the animal sounds to the animal and he could read each and every one of the animal sounds. Unreal.
The next morning I sat down with him and asked him to read me a book. He did just that. He got about half way through before he started talking gibberish but I think that was a lot of time spent focussing on it with him. He read Jennie and I another book the next day. It’s soooooooooo cute.
I love reading with him. I have a lot of patience reading with kids who are just learning. I find it to be really rewarding and adorable.
He doesn’t get all the words, but about 80% of them. He does a great job at sounding them out too. I’m so proud of him. Reading at 3 and a half years old. What a great thing!!!
He’s also becoming a little too good at the computer, being able to use youtube, google, msn, etc. Time to make him his own account on the computer and stick a parent block on that sucker. I dunno if I should start letting him play video games, I know some are really great for kids with autism. I just dunno about it. I need to purchase a timer for him so he can start seeing how much time he has left on the computer and TV and whatnot.
So I’ve started on anti-depressants now. I write more about my journey with depression over here. I’m really tired but it’s only been a week and most other symptoms are already gone. It doesn’t help that I haven’t been going to bed at a decent hour and that I have been taking antihistamines as well…plus not drinking enough water. So it could be all of that.
I hope they work. 3 more weeks to find out.
He read “comfortable”! Such a darling little stinker bum.
