Silas wanted to blog for me today. After a little argument he’s finally ok with my typing this before he flies at it. I’m gunna go hang with Ikey and we’ll see what happens. He loves typing these days.

annnnd then he got distracted cuz The Wiggles came on the radio. That took him a good hour ha ha. The only thing I changed is the spacing between lines. Aparently hitting ‘return’ 800 times between lines is really fun but it makes for a VERY long blog. Jacks Manequin is a band btw.
He’s been spending a lot of time on MSN with my sister which he really really loves. They go on webcam and type back and forth. He mainly copies what she writes. Sometimes we have sound on too so they can go back and forth. He thinks it’s oodles of fun. He’s kinda like me.
Temple Grandin does talk a lot about focussing on the skills of autistic children and not just their deficites. As I have just begun reading her book Emergence, I’ve already learned that Silas is a Mathematical/Musical thinker. It fits him perfectly. Technology is most likely going to be a big deal to him. He’s got the perfect Grandpa and auntie for that too. I do believe Jennie will be teaching him computer programming eventually :). I don’t mind him using the computer for this actually. It relaxes him IMMENSELY and it’s teaching him a skill that, not that I’m counting on this, he’ll most likely use for a job in the future. Who knows though. Maybe he’ll be a hairdresser. Temple just says to get these kids learning technology, not playing video games, but getting into the technology itself.

I came really close to buying you a gift tonight…. but I didn’t. Sorry. I’ll tell you about it though, in case you’re having a better financial month than we are. (Rick’s hours got cut. But God is our supply.)
Anyway… it was a book about a many people who had autism who succeeded in life in many fields. Temple G was in it. It is called: Different Like Me : My Book of Autism Heroes by Jennifer Elder. It is a darling children’s book.
